Frequently Asked Questions

I have entered the wrong 100m or 200m Personal Best (PB) on my entry form. How do I change this?

If you would like to amend your 100m or 200m PB please send an email to info@greatcitygames.org clearly stating your full name, postcode, which event you have entered and your correct PBs. We will then be able to amend this for you.

When will I receive my running number?

You will receive your running number at the Registration Area at the event on Saturday 15th May. Note we will not be posting anything to entrants of the Great Manchester 150 – all information will be on the website (www.greatcitygames.org) in advance of the event.

What clothes should I wear?

If you have run before you will probably have a good idea of what you feel comfortable in. A long or short sleeved sports top and shorts, or jogging bottoms if you would prefer.

What shoes should I wear?

The CityGames track has a Mondo surface, just like tracks used for International Championships and Olympic Games. Club sprinters will want to wear their spikes (max 6mm). If you don’t have a pair of spikes then a pair of trainers will be fine. No high heeled or leather shoes will be allowed on the CityGames track.

I’ve never taken part in a sprint race before (or it’s been a long time since I last did), should I enter?

The Great Manchester 150 is for runners of all abilities. The Club Sprint sessions are for sprinters who compete for their school or athletics club. Non-Club sprinters should enter into one of the Public Sprint Sessions.

However, if you have any underlying medical issues, you should consult with your GP before taking part.

What is the age restriction for this event?

You must be 11 years or over on the day of the event to enter the Great Manchester 150.

How do I train for this event?

If you are not a regular sprinter we strongly recommend that you attend one of the FREE Introduction to Sprinting workshops, details are on the website.

You should also view the Train & Prepare pages on the website for information on how to prepare for your sprint.

Do I have to attend the Introduction to Sprinting workshops?

Whilst not compulsory, we recommend that non-club sprinters attend one the Introduction to Sprinting workshops. The workshops are FREE and will introduce you to some technical aspects of sprinting and active stretching techniques that will help you better prepare for your sprint.

What is the withdrawal/deferment procedure?

All refunds will be liable to a £1.00 administration charge. Refunds will not be possible for any other eventuality.

All entries are non-transferable either to a different participant or to subsequent Great Manchester 150 events in future years.

What happens if the event is cancelled?

If the event is unable to take place due to unforeseen circumstances, we will endeavour to stage the event at a later date, but if this is not possible we will be entitled to cancel the event. In such circumstances, we will try to let you know in writing of the cancellation or delay. In the event of race cancellation we will refund your entry fee on request but will have no other liability to you for any costs or expenses you may incur as a result of that cancellation. In the event of a delay in the race which is due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our reasonable control, we will have no liability to you for any costs or expenses you may incur, although you may opt to cancel your place and in that case we will refund your entry fee.
